On January 20, 2025, Trump signed an executive order reinstating Schedule F, later renamed Schedule Policy Career, reclassifying career civil servants in policy-influencing roles as at-will employees. OPM estimated roughly 50,000 positions, about 2 percent of the federal workforce, would be reclassified.
